Miguel Ferrer is known for his portrayal of Robert Morton – the young project leader on the RoboCop program in the film RoboCop. He’s the son of director and actor Jose Ferrer and Rosemary Clooney, an equally successful American singer and actress.

Raised between Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Ferrer attended Beverly Hills High School, which became the breeding ground that fostered his interests in the arts and particularly in music.

An avid drummer, Miguel proved to be much more than your everyday garage band musician when he appeared on drums for Keith Moon’s (drummer for The Who) only solo album, Two Sides of the Moon.

After Miguel graduated from Beverly Hills High, he studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse — one of the oldest acting schools in Los Angeles. He began how most other struggling actors do via small-time appearances in the pantheon of network television.

In 1983, he landed a small role as a waiter for the comedy film The Man Who Wasn’t There, which segued quite nicely into another minor role in a project titled Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

It didn’t take long for casting agents and directors to take notice of Miguel’s potential. By the 1990s, he saw consistent work and appeared on three Primetime TV shows.

They were Shannon’s Deal, Broken Badges, and Twin Peaks, the latter of which became very mainstream.

In 1999, he voiced Aquaman in a Superman: Animated episode, “A Fish Story.” Miguel was nominated for a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for Children in Disney’s The Lion King II.

Miguel  passed away in January 2017 at his Santa Monica home after a bout with throat cancer. He was 61-years-old.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Weintraub, and his two sons and stepsons. He’s buried next to his father at Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
