Donovan Mitchell is an American professional basketball player. He joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2022 and is currently one of their members.
Donovan was born to Donovan Sr. and Nicole, in Elmsford, New York. While his mother is of Panamanian descent, there is currently no information about his father’s heritage. Donovan’s mother currently works as a teacher, while his father is a former Minor League baseball player.
Donovan has a young sister called Jordan. She also enjoys sports, in particular lacrosse. Most people believe that the two were influenced by their father’s passion for sports in their teenage years.

Donovan Mitchell was born in 1996 and is now 26 years old.
Mitchell attended Canterbury School, located in New Milford. Here he played both basketball and baseball. Unfortunately, Donovan had to quit sports in his sophomore year after a bad injury. In fact, he collided with a catcher and broke his wrist. The catcher broke his jaw as a result of the accident.
Donovan then moved to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, for his junior and senior years. Here, he finally decided to fully dedicate himself to basketball and leave baseball. Donovan quickly received recognition from several college basketball coaches. During these years, he also acted in the school musical and gave tours to visiting students.
After high school, Donovan decided to enroll at the University of Louisville. Here, he played college basketball and chose the number 45 to honor one of his favorite players, Micheal Jordan.
He was then drafted in the 2017 NBA draft. His first NBA team was the Utah Jazz. He stayed with them for a total of five years until 2022. This year, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, and Ochai Agbaji.
Even though Donovan still has a promising basketball career in front of him, he is also thinking about his future. Knowing that one day he will have to quit basketball, he’s now wondering what his future job may be. At the moment, Donovan seems to be interested in broadcasting, but nothing is certain for now.
Talking about his personal life, Donovan is a fan of the New York Mets, where his father has been working for over twenty years.
