It is located in the heart of Baku, or Icheri Sheher, as the city is also known, and overlooks a few famous places. These include the 12th-century Maiden Tower, which is a UNESCO heritage site.

It is best known for its wonderful guided tours through the streest of Baku, and its tours are organized by area and time period.

The oldest hotel in Azerbaijan is the Shaki Caravanserai hotel. It’s interesting to note that the building the hotel is located in is actually a part of a historical monument! In the Middle Ages, trade relations between different countries began to develop quite rapidly, leading to an increase in the number of roadside inns, or caravanserais that were constructed.
This particular caravanserai in Sheki actually consists of two roadside inns. They were traditionally named Ashaghy and Yukhary. This site was merely a historical one for several decades, but in the recent past, part of the building has been constructed into a hotel.
