Rekha is one of the most famous Indian actresses currently on the scene. She is mainly known for movies such as Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, Aastha: In the Prison of Spring, and Khoon Bhari Maang.

Rekha was born to actors Gemini Ganesan and actress Pushpavalli. She grew up with a biological sister and several step-siblings. In fact, her father, a Muslim, had three wives, while her mother married three times.

Rama Rangachari is Babuji’s biological sister. She is mentally challenged and was married for roughly a year. During this time, she had a son called Dabloo.

11. Dhanalakshmi Sapru

Dhanalakshmi Sapru was born from Pushpavalli’s third wedding to cinematographer K. Prakash. Therefore, she is probably younger than Rekha, but we cannot affirm this with certainty.

Dhanalakshmi worked as an actor and was chosen for a part in the Tamil film Oru Thayin Sabhatham, which came out in 1987.

Narayani is a great writer and has published a book called ‘Eternal Romantic: My Father, Gemini Ganesan.’

Jaya Shreedhar is one of Rekha’s many step-siblings. Unfortunately, we do not have any information regarding her birth.

Before getting into these careers, Jaya also worked as a consultant for some international institutions, among which are WHO and UNICEF.

Rekha is probably Gemini Ganesan’s most famous child. She was born in 1954 and is currently 68 years old.

Throughout her career, Rekha has taken part in over 180 movies! She was also awarded several accolades, including a National Film Award and three Filmfare Awards. In 2010, the Government of India honored this amazing actress with Padma Shri, the country’s fourth highest civilian honor.

Talking about her personal life, in 1990, Rekha married self-made entrepreneur Mukesh Aggarwal. Unfortunately, her husband suffered from depression and committed suicide a few months following the wedding. He left behind a note saying, ‘Don’t blame anyone.’

Rekha is an eggetarian, a term often used in India to refer to vegetarians. She loves yoga and has a disciplined life.

Radha Usman Syed is one of Rekha’s younger sisters. She was born in 1955 and is now 68 years old. 

Radha is a former model, and in the 70s, she appeared in several magazines. She also acted in a few Tamil films, and in the early 70s, movie director Raj Kapoor offered her the main role in his film Bobby, which came out in 1973. However, Radha decided to decline as, at the time, she was more interested in modeling.

Radha is now married to Usman Syed, her childhood lover. Usman works as a businessman and is the son of director S.M. Abbas, known for productions such as Shriman Satyawadi (1960), Hungama (1971), Haseena Maan Jayegi (1968), and Ek Bechara (1971). Following her marriage to Usman, Radha converted to Islam. The couple now has two sons together, Naveed Syed and Aman Syed.

In 2008, Naveed tried to pursue an acting career. His dream was to become a Bollywood star. However, after a year, he returned to San Francisco, California, as he wasn’t able to sign any contract. In a later interview, he said about the experience: “My maasi (Rekha) was not very helpful (in meeting filmmakers). I had been there (in Mumbai) for too long and I just needed a film to prove myself. Without my family backing me, it was tough to meet any filmmakers regarding work.”

Vijaya Chamundeswari was born on the 2nd of December to Gemini Ganesan and Savitri. She attended Andhra Mahila Sabha, Kodaikanal’s Presentation Convent School, and Vidhyodaya High School in Chennai.

Vijaya later enrolled at Ethiraj College of Women, where she studied English literature. Today, she works as a fitness expert at GG Hospitals in Chennai.

Kamala Selvaraj is an obstetrician and gynecologist working in Tamil Nadu, India. She is mainly known for commissioning the first test tube baby in south India in 1990. In the last few years, over 800 babies were born in great health, thanks to the assisted reproduction therapy conducted in Kamala’s hospital.

Kamla studied at University at Stella Maris College and later at Kasturba Medical College from 1962 to 1967. But this is not all. She also attended a horsemanship course at Madras General Hospital from 1968 to 1970 and studied at Madras University for several years.

She also went through specialization at Monash University, Australia, between 1985 and 1988, where she studied In Vitro Fertilization & Embryo Transfer. She also studied Micro Surgery & Tubal Recanalisation in Singapore And Advanced in Operative Training in Laparoscopy & Hysteroscopy at Bali Islands, Indonesia. In 2002, Kamala received her Ph.D. thanks to her thesis on “Premature Ovarian Failure and its management.”

Throughout her career, Kamala has published several academic articles on Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Fertility & Sterility. Some of her studies include the Role of Laparoscopic Electrocoagulation of Ovarian Surface (LEOS) in PCOD and its outcome, Successful pregnancy in a patient with a 46, XY Karyotype, and Two interesting cases of Ovarian pregnancy after In Vitro Fertilization / Embryo Transfer and its successful Laparoscopic Management.
