In fact, his father, Stellan Skarsgård, is also a famous actor who convinced most of his children to follow in his footsteps.

8. Alexander Skarsgård (August 25, 1976 – present)

Alexander Skarsgård is Bill’s oldest sibling as he was born in 1976 and is currently 45 years old.

He started to act, following in his dad’s footsteps, at a very young age. Alexander was, in fact, only seven years old when one of his dad’s friends, who at the time worked as a director, gave him his first role in a Swedish drama film. The movie was called Åke and His World and Alexander played the role of Kalle Nubb.

At the age of thirteen, he became known all over Sweden after playing the leading role in the television production Hunden Som Log, which can be translated as The Dog That Smiled. However, Alexander did not enjoy fame and quit acting.

After serving in the Swedish military, he decided to give his acting career a second chance and took part in a US film comedy called Zoolander. This time, he kept working in the film industry, acting in several movies such as Generation Kill, Melancholia, Battleship, and The Legend of Tarzan.

Apart from his acting career, Alexander is a football fan supporting the Hammarby Fotboll, a club based in Stockholm.

7. Gustaf Skarsgård (November 12, 1980 – present)

Gustaf Skarsgård is Bill’s second oldest sibling, as he was born in 1980. Just like his brother Alexander, he started to act from a very young age and began attending drama school when he was only six years old.

Gustaf’s debut came in 1989 when Gustaf played a ballet pupil in the short film Prima Ballerina. A few months later, he also got a small role in the Swedish film Codename Coq Rouge.

Between 1994 and 1996, Gustaf continued his acting career and got a few roles in productions such as Min vän Percys Magiska Gymnastikskor and Skuggornas Hus. Two years later, Gustaf attended the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting in Stockholm, and later on, he also joined the Royal Dramatic Theater.

During these years, Gustaf acted in several plays by Shakespeare, Chekhov, a Swedish playwright, and Söderberg, a Russian writer, both at the Stockholm City Theater and the Royal Dramatic Theater.

From 2003 onwards, he decided to go back to movies and tv series, performing in a Swedish drama film known as Evil. Five years later, he also acted in a Swedish comedy-drama movie called Patrik 1,5. These roles earned him a nomination for the Guldbagge Award as Best Leading Actor and Best Supporting Actor.

Throughout his career, Gustaf also managed to win the Shooting Star, an award from the Berlin International Film Festival. He was also awarded a Guldbagge Award as Leading Actor for his performance in Förortsungar.

However, most people will probably recognize him for his performance in the popular History Channel series Vikings, in which he played the shipbuilder Floki.

One of his most recent roles was for the series Cursed, produced by Netflix and based on the life of Merlin.

Gustaf is now in a relationship with Caroline Sjöström. The two also have a daughter together. Before this relationship, from 1999 to 2005, Gustaf dated actress Hanna Alström.

6. Sam Skarsgård (June 5, 1982 – present)

Samuel “Sam” Kristoffer Ymer Skarsgard grew up in Stockholm and, unlike his two brothers, decided to follow in his mother’s footsteps by becoming a doctor. He’s now, in fact, working in the Intensive Care Unit in Stockholm Hospital.

Despite this, he also got a few minor acting roles throughout his life. One of these was for the movie Jim & Piraterna Blom, in which he starred alongside his father. In 2002, Sam also acted as his brother Gustaf’s double in a fantasy thriller known as The Invisible.

Sam also served as a production manager for a while, working on short films such as Att DödaEett Barn and Skuggvärld.

5. Bill Skarsgård (August 9, 1991 – present)

Bill Skarsgård was born in 1990 and is currently 30 years old. 

Bill had his debut in 2011 when he got a leading role in the comedy movie Simple Simon for which he was nominated for a Guldbagge Award.

A year later, he also won the European Film Academy’s Shooting Star Award. However, most people know him for his stunning performance as Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the horror movie It. He also got a role in its sequel two years later in 2019.  

Some of the most important acting roles in Bill’s career include Roman Godfrey in the Netflix series Hemlock Grove, The Kid in Castle Rock, and Matthew in the science fiction thriller The Divergent Series: Allegiant, released in 2016.

One of his last roles was as Clark Olofsson, a famous Swedish criminal who gave rise to the term Stockholm Syndrome.

At the moment, Bill is involved in a relationship with Swedish actress Alida Morberg. The two have a daughter together, who was born in October 2018.

Eija Skarsgård is Bill’s youngest and only sister. She was born in 1992 and is currently 30. Being the only female in her family, Eija grew up playing video games and watching action and horror movies, together with her many brothers.

In an interview, she said that her siblings always took care of each other as their father was often out for work while their mother was frequently absent or ill.

Unlike her brothers, Eija didn’t try to get into acting. However, when she was only 14, she was noticed by a modeling agency.

This happened at the premiere of the Pirates of the Caribbean while her father was playing the role of Bootstrap Bill Turner. The agency soon offered her a modeling assignment, and she accepted.

For a few years, Eija stayed in the modeling industry, working on several ads and magazine covers. However, at the age of 18, she decided to quit. Later on, she took this decision after being constantly asked to lose weight.

Now Eija is working as a manager for a nightclub in Stockholm known as Vardagsrummet.

Valter is the youngest son of actors Stellan and My Skarsgård. He was born in October 1995 and is currently 26 years old. Valter studied at the St Eriks Gymnasium and started to act in 2003.

Just like his siblings, Valter took part in several movies and productions such as the Swedish drama film Details, the horror thriller Lords of Chaos, and the horror movie Funhouse, released in 2020.

2. Ossian Skarsgård (April 26, 2009 – present)

Ossian Skarsgård is the first son of Stellan Skarsgård and Megan Everett. In fact, in 2007, Stellan decided to divorce after having six children with his first wife My.

Stellan met Ossian’s mother the following year and got married on January 12th, 2009. At the time, Megan was already pregnant with Ossian.
