Bella Zahra Murphy is the youngest of the Murphy siblings at 20 years old!
Bella is the daughter of Eddie and Nicole Murphy. Several sources claim she’s currently attending university, but it looks like she has a bright career as an actress ahead of her.
Her introduction into acting came with her film debut in Coming 2 America — the sequel to the cult-classic comedy that starred Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, and James Earl Jones. Bella portrayed the role of Omma Joffer (Princess Omma), the daughter of King Akeem Joffer, played by her father.
In an interview with Yahoo News, she offered a revealing family rule enforced by their father, which says they can’t enter the entertainment industry until they’re at least 18 years old.
As you know, there are always exceptions to the rules. Eddie made a rare exception for Bella, who was 17, while filming the movie. Bella was passionate about acting from the start, she revealed to Ellen DeGeneres. She often begged her father to appear in whatever project he had upcoming.
You’d think that opportunities would fall into her lap as the daughter of an icon and she’d land the job with ease, but Eddie made sure she didn’t skip the line. She auditioned for Craig Brewer – the director of the movie. Eddie told Good Morning America, “I wasn’t muscling my kid into the movie. She had to really be able to deliver. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have gotten the role.”
When looking back on what inspired her father to bend his family rule, Bella recounted, “I think he just saw that and saw how passionate I was about it, and was like, ‘I think I’m just going to let you audition for the princess if you want’.”
